CYDT has built and established a reputation for trained dancers who present with expertise and professionalism and have excelled both at home and internationally.
Welcome to CYDT!
Welcome to the Children and Youth Dance Theatre (CYDT), a dance academy that offers a Competitive Program, Performance Program and Recreational Program. Classes in the programs include Ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, modern, tap acro, hip hop, Afro-Caribbean dance. If your child enjoys dance and is prepared to work hard in a fun, yet disciplined environment, then CYDT has a lot to offer.
Our Recreational Program caters to those who want to dance just for pure enjoyment. Classes are offered mainly on Saturdays and are scheduled to offer styles such as Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Acro. Dancers will then perform routines at our end of year Recital. Many of our recreational dancers do transition to our Performance or Competitive programs after a few years because of the reliable training they are receiving.
Our Competitive Program requires a commitment to dance from both dancers and their parents, as the dancers train more extensively throughout the week anywhere from 5-16 (a total of 7 classes), and compete in Ontario-based competitions throughout the year. Competitive dancers are required to develops coordination, rhythm, strength, posture, flexibility, commitment, discipline and teamwork, and there is an expectation to always strive for excellence. Dancers aged 6yrs and over who sign up for the Competitive program must attend and audition and interview with interview process with the Studio Co-ordinator and the Head of the Comp. Dance Dept.
Our Performance Program (aka known as pre-competitive) caters to students who want to dance but cannot commit to the extended hours of training expected in the Competitive Program. Dancers and parents commit to training at the pre-competitive in 4 classes must include ballet or modern technique. The Dancers perform as ambassadors of the CYDT Studio, and are required to develops coordination, rhythm, strength, posture, flexibility, commitment, discipline and teamwork. There is also an expectation to always strive for excellence. Dancers aged 8yrs and over who sign up for the Performance Program, must be assessed and interviewed by the Head of the Rec. Dance Dept. Competitive Dancers are welcome to participate.
Children and Youth Dance Theatre is a dance studio for students and families to establish long lasting relationships on and off the dance floor. We strive to nurture, develop and improve dance ability, build self-confidence, and leadership skills at all levels, in a safe and professional environment. Whether you're just beginning to explore dance or have chosen to pursue dance seriously, you are welcome to dance with us. Here at CYDT we recognize that every dancer is different, hence we offer a variety of genres and programs. We aim to provide excellent service to everyone that enters our dance studio.
